Adipex is one of the most popular weight loss drugs that has been around since the late 1950s. Medical trials have demonstrated that this dietary pill is effective and safe for losing weight when following a doctor’s instructions.
In general, Adipex increases weight loss more than just dieting alone. How much weight you lose depends on a number of factors including your gender, height, starting weight, age, exercise and diet. So, we’ll take a look at a few studies that will give you a realistic view of what you can expect from Adipex under different conditions.
In 1968, a British Medical Journal published information on a double-blind trial of Phentermine (Adipex). There were a total 108 female test subjects that were divided up into 3 groups. One group was given 15 mg a day continuously. The second group was given 15 mg but only every other month. Both groups were on a restricted caloric intake of 1,000 calories a day. The third group was a control group. The group that was on Phentermine continuously lost a total of 27 pounds over the test period and the group that received the dietary drug every other month lost a little more than 28.7 pounds on the average for the trial period. So, the average monthly loss was 3.2 pounds for the continuous group and 3.4 pounds for the intermittent group.
Another study back in 2005 was conducted in Korea. A standard dose of 37.5 mg was used on 34 individuals including both males and females. These subjects were placed on a 1,500 calorie diet daily. The trial was run for 14 weeks and the Adipex group lost an average of 16.5 pounds which breaks down to around 5 pounds a month.
Another study done at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2003 tested 188 male and female subjects. Phentermine dosages ranged from 8 to 30 mg daily and they had a very low caloric intake somewhere between 500 to 800 calories daily.
They had to exercise for 45 minutes three times a week as well. After 3 months, the females lost on average 17.6 pounds and the males lot 21.3 pounds for the trial duration.
If you average out all three studies, it looks like you can lose 3 to 6 pounds a month if you are a female and somewhere between 5 to 8 pounds if you are a male.
This happens when you use Phentermine and a low calorie diet. If you exercise, that will help you lose even more weight.
