Duromine Side Effects

Adipex Table Contents

Duromine is an appetite suppressant that is taken to lose weight. The active ingredient is the generic drug Phentermine. In Duromine, the Phentermine is mixed with a resin to create slow release which helps to prolong the effects of Duromine.

This appetite suppressant is made by 3M pharmaceuticals and is marketed throughout Australia and New Zealand. Duromine is meant to be used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and an exercise program.

Duromine is prescribed for individuals who are heavily overweight or medically obese. Only people who have mass body indices of 27 or greater and who have one or more comorbidities that include, high blood pressure, diabetes type-2 and/or high cholesterol or patients who have a BMI of 30 or greater are considered candidates for Duromine. Duromine is not recommended for children under the age of 19 or for the elderly.

Given that Duromine is an appetite suppressor, it reduces cravings for food and it is thought to work on the central nervous system. The active component of Duromine is the generic drug Phentermine which is reported to be chemically similar to amphetamines. Beyond suppressing appetite, it also boosts energy levels.

Duromine can be taken for a maximum period of 3 months. If taken for longer periods, it has been reported to generate tolerance. At that point, weight loss stops, however side effects can continue. Additionally, prolonged use may cause Duromine dependence. Symptoms of dependency include: overstimulation, nightmares, irritability, fatigue, profuse sweating, insomnia, depression, visual loss and dizziness.

If significant weight loss has not been achieved within a 3 month period, you may need to talk with your healthcare provider about using alternative anti-obesity drugs. There are other prescription anti-obesity drugs as well as natural alternatives.
